My style is relaxed, natural, artistic, and, above all, FUN! I shoot dogs being themselves, in hopes of capturing what makes each unique and special.
Typical photo shoots are kind of like play dates, though I do take the time needed to introduce myself and get your dog can get used to the camera and the sounds that come from it. (I’m also not above bribes – I come well-equipped with a bag full of tasty bits, not to mention balls, ropes and squeaky toys. But if your dog has a favorite treat or toy, definitely bring it!) Before long, most dogs forget the camera is there — which is my goal! I get down and dirty, spending large amounts of the session on my knees, rear, and belly. Your dog does not have to be a perfectly trained, off-leash angel! Probably 90% of the dogs I photograph are actually on lead (photoshop is a magical thing!), and though maybe not in the rest of my life, I seem to have endless patience when it comes to the pups! The sessions generally run around two hours, and by the end of the shoot, I’m usually exhausted and filthy – but I’ve hopefully captured some great images of your dog. And your pup will likely sleep well that night!
I think natural light is best, so I prefer to shoot with available light, which means that outdoors is generally preferable (though sometimes weather and time of day can play a factor). During the summer especially, I tend to schedule sessions for early mornings or late afternoon/early evening to take advantage of the best light… and the best temperatures! I will work with you to find the best possible time and spot for the session. If the weather is not cooperating and I don’t feel comfortable that I will be able to get quality shots, we’ll postpone your shoot for a better day.
If you have an elderly or sick dog, please let me know and I’ll prioritize your shoot.
Sessions are one to three hours of fun and play with your pet (basically I stay until I know I have plenty of different shots). The session fee includes:
- 1-3 hours of photographer’s time and talent
- post-processing and retouching of your images
- toys and treats
- $200 credit toward the purchase of prints or products
Session fees start at $450* for Dallas sessions. I am willing to travel – email me if you are outside Dallas.
Prints are available in a wide range of sizes, finishes, and mounting options and can be customized to suit your needs. In addition, thank Dog. offers a variety of custom products to display your favorite images, including gallery-wrapped canvases, photo books or albums, and holiday cards or announcements. If you have something specific in mind, speak up – odds are it can be done!
*Add $50 for each additional pet. A $75 deposit is required to reserve your photo session; full payment and a signed model release form are due at the time of the session. Sales tax not included.
