rex | dallas dog photography

All my sessions are fun – they really are a blast.  But every once in a while, there’s a dog that keeps me laughing (loudly) the entire session.  Rex was one of those dogs.

Rex is a five year old lab — and is the labbiest lab around.  Happy, goofy, ball-obsessed, slobbery, sweet, full of endless energy – pure lab.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

lynn - Beautiful lab! Did you know that a lab with that coloring is called a “Dudley”? It only happens when they get a pair of double recessive genes. My lab has the same coloring and someone just told me there was a name for it a couple weeks ago.

Also, my lab just came over as I was typing this, put her paws on my lap and climbed up to take a better look at Rex. For real! 🙂

libby & tsouka | dallas dog photography

Libby and Tsouka are a couple of sweet yellow labs.  Libby went through the seeing eye dog program as a pup but didn’t quite graduate (she was a little apprehensive around strange men).  She’s 10 years old now and is a sweet old thing — with endless patience for her best friend, Tsouka, and a fondness for treats.  Tsouka actually belongs to Libby’s mom’s human daughter – so she’s Libby’s niece?  Tsouka – Russian for little girl dog (cute!) – is a happy, two year old lab.  She had no problem immediately sniffing out a tennis ball left behind.

First up – Libby….

And the girls together….   (Libby loves Cheerios.  If you look closely you can see one falling — Libby definitely saw it!)

Christina - Labs are my favorite! Black or Yellow, these images make me want to hug them!!! love it!

Cheryl Smith - Beautiful dogs & beautiful photography! Hope they both get their forever homes.

kelly o’malley | dallas dog photography

The past several days have been lab days around here — starting off with the pretty Irish lass, Kelly O’Malley, a lab/dalmatian/golden mix.

Kelly reminded me a lot of my Bear — I’m not sure exactly what it was, but she seemed like a smaller, darker, girlier version of him in a lot of ways.  And that’s most definitely a good thing in my book!

Kelly’s definitely got a lot of retriever in her.  She’s a big fan of the tennis ball – but her frisbee is her true love.

Very focused and ready for the frisbee toss…

Unfortunately, it was quite windy so our frisbee tosses where hugely unpredictable — even to Kelly — and were mostly nosediving right next to us.  I’m not sure I’m going to win any ultimate frisbee titles any time soon.  I think I might have hit myself with one of my tosses.

I always love a good parting shot.

mademoiselle ellie | dallas dog photography

I met up with Ellie, the cutest little frenchie, and her mom on Sunday at Lee Park.   She’s my first official french bulldog — and she sold me!  I had so much fun with this little girl.

Ellie and her parents moved to Dallas from Chicago last year – and I think she’s enjoying her first Texas winter (I know her mom is!).   She’s a spunky little thing – who LOVES to play ball.

Rat Child - AHHH!! She looks like gus kind of!!! These are so great:D:D:D

Ruth - Awesome awesome photos! Your best yet I reckon. The fact that I LOVE Frenchies may have influenced my decision though 😉

Li - Hee hee! Wonderful shots! They all made me smile.

april - I totally love her. These shots all rock, but I have to say that I adore the frog legs shots… my boston lays the same way & it’s the cutest thing…

orla grace & lovie | dallas dog photography

A couple of sweet girls looking for new families through Paws in the City:

It’s hard to believe I’m posting about Orla Grace needing a home.  Poor girl has had two good ones – and has just had bad luck.  Her first owner passed away so Paws in the City helped find her a new home.  Unfortunately, the dad at the new home developed pretty severe allergies to her – so despite loving her to pieces, they’ve been forced to give her up.  Their loss will certainly be someone else’s gain though!  Miss Orla is a purebred lab (with her papers).  She’s a fantastic family dog, especially with children (she may actually prefer kids to adults).   She’s been well cared for and is a happy girl — having met her, I can attest that she’s a sweet, goofy, loving, stereotypical lab!

Lovie was rescued from the Trinity river bed.  The vet estimated Lovie to be about 1.5 years old, and she’s had at least one litter of puppies.  When found, she wasn’t in good shape – but thanks to some great medical care, she’s well on her way to being a healthy happy girl! She’s still a little scrawny, but is very energetic, playful and VERY SWEET. She loves to give hugs and kisses and takes to people quickly, offering them all the affection she can muster!

Jennifer - One day I would love to come help you when you photograph for the rescue group. It’s the main reason I picked up a camera habit last year. I have even fostered Lovie on my FB Save a Dog app!

Claire - great shots of both of these girls! i love that little lab; you totally captured her sweetness.
