A wonderful family, the Hunts, adopted Cash yesterday. He’ll be happy and spoiled rotten with them… but I have to admit to having a pretty sizable hole in my heart right now. I made them promise to let me keep him whenever they leave town.
I miss the little boy something fierce. I think Bear might too.
and I don’t like it, says Cash.
I’ve been working with Legacy Boxer Rescue to get Cash fixed up and find him a new home. They are really a great organization – passionate about saving dogs. Since I’ve been involved with LBR, I’ve been more exposed to just how many dogs – including purebred ones – are surrendered or just abandoned every day. It really is disheartening — but I’ve also met some people with huge hearts that are working hard to save as many of these sweet little creatures as they can.
Sharon Sleighter, the founder of LBR, is in the running to be Tom’s of Maine’s Hero Next Door. The prize for the winner is $2500 for the charity and $2500 for the hero, but Sharon has already vowed to donate all $5000 to LBR to help spay, neuter, deworm, feed, shelter, train, and socialize pups like Cash. Voted! I am falling in love with Cash through your pictures. My husband and I have two boxers at home, a 7 year old and a 15 month old and they both have the same reaction to the rain!

Paws in the City rescued these two sweet sisters from the City animal shelter after they’d been picked up as strays. Within days, they both became very ill and were diagnosed with pneumonia. Lacey was definitely worse off than Cagney, but both girls are recovering now. I went to visit both of them (they are at separate vet clinics) to get some photos to use to help them find foster homes and to hopefully solicit some donations to help cover their vet care. Both are super sweet, affectionate girls. Lacey, in particular, needs to put some meat back on her bones, but you can still see what gorgeous dogs they are (Cagney’s on the left, Lacey’s on the right)

Margaret - He is a beautiful dog. He’s lucky he’s been adopted. My granddog is an American Bulldog and he looks a lot like Cash. Although Leroy has a black spot on the top of his head.
Shauna (Fido & Wino) - Awww! You did such a good thing taking him in! Maybe you’ll be the “soft pillow to land on” for another pup someday?
