norton | in memory

I met Norton last fall when I was photographing his two foster siblings, Lily and Guenther (he was the large in the small-medium-large boxer posse).  He had been having seizures, but they seemed to be under control with medication – so much so that he was headed to his new forever home soon after our session.  Unfortunately, the seizures came back shortly thereafter, and the medication stopped working.  So his sweet foster parents took him back in to see if they could nurse him back to health.  I saw him again a few weeks ago – he was weak from the drugs being given to him, but the hope was that they could stabilize his system, and then wean him off the drugs that were causing the ataxia.  The big guy was still super sweet – happy to lap up some love.

Sadly though, I just received news that big Norton was helped to the bridge today.  He was not making any progress on the medication, and the side effects were not subsiding.  He clearly wasn’t getting or feeling any better, and he let his foster parents know it was time for them to let him go.  He’s already missed.

Cindy - RIP.. Norton.
You were loved and will be missed.

Briana - I’m so sorry to hear it. But I’m glad he doesn’t have to experience those scary seizures anymore. Love to his family.

Sharon Sleighter - Thank you for posting about our Norton. He was such a wonderful boxer, and I know his foster parents miss him so much already. Godspeed Norton.
