a little something to kick off the weekend….

I dare you not to squeal a little bit.

Seriously.  I mean…. seriously.  Have you ever?!?!

I’ll have a booth at Easter in the Park on Sunday – come by and say “hi!”.  It’s a great event – a fabulous pooch parade (costumes and all!) followed by a performance by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.

alexa - EEEEK!!!! Oh- I just failed miserably. More photos please! Have fun at the event!

Kelly - Belle’s new pet?

Shauna (Fido & Wino blog) - Oh my GAHD the eyes!

Chris - Entirely too cute!

deep ellum pup crawl

Saturday was the [rescheduled] first annual Deep Ellum Pup Crawl.  It was just as it sounds – a walk from dog-friendly patio to dog-friendly patio on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon.  Not a bad way to spend the day!  There was a great turnout, everybody had a lot of fun, and funds were raised for the renovation of the Deep Ellum Bark Park.

Belle and I missed the first couple stops, but by the time we caught up with the group, it was going strong.  Belle made it through a couple stops with me before I ran her home (she’s fantastic in crowds of people, but I have to watch her pretty closely in crowds of dogs — she behaved very well though!).  I returned to the last stop – the Double Wide – with camera in hand.  As always, I took a ton of shots — I wish I’d taken photos throughout the whole afternoon, but I decided to keep my attention on Belle when she was in tow. [On a side note, I really want to use the Double Wide for a regular session — I couldn’t take true advantage of a lot of it this weekend because of all the people, but I think it’d make for some super fun shots.]

It’s always so great to see so many well-behaved, well-loved dogs hanging out.  I got to meet a mala-mutt, a poodle posse, the owner of the world’s cutest underbite, Bonnie & Clyde, and a whole host of other fabulous creatures.

Anita - wow, what an awesome event! How I wish we had stuff like this in my town!

SqueakDog Pet Photography - LOVE the boxer photo!! And your B&W pics are really beautiful 🙂

baldy | dallas dog photography

I’ll admit to being a little nervous before Cotton and Baldy’s photo shoot.  First, I was warned that they’re both quite shy and protective.  But secondly, I learned I was to shoot a yorkie named “Baldy.”  Now, I totally think that all dogs are cute… but I was a bit worried that a bald yorkie would challenge my thinking.

Luckily, Baldy’s not bald at all.  When his adult coat started growing in, his markings made it look as though he was bald, and the name stuck.  As for the protective and shy bit…. yes, Baldy is a bit of both.  It took him a little while to warm up to me at all, though once he discovered I was a human treat dispenser, he stuck pretty close.  The teeny tiny little ragamuffin probably ate his weight in treats by the time we were through.

alexa - Love that look he’s giving you… Don’t come too close! And do you have any treats? 😉 Very cute shots. He’s definitely not bald!! 😉

Ty - These are great! I love the last two

Chris - Awesome! I love your work so much!

cotton | dallas dog photography

I recently had a session with two tiny little creatures — Cotton (maltese) and Baldy (yorkie).  Together they weigh around nine pounds.  That’s a little more than half what Belle weighed at 8 weeks.  But neither one of them has any idea they aren’t very intimidating.

Cotton’s an adorable little fluffball.  She has appointed herself Princess, and in charge of Baldy.  But she’s shy.  When I first arrived, there was a lot of yapping and barking — it continued off and on throughout our session.  Cotton was initially the brave one of the two – coming up and taking the treats from me.  I guess she filled herself up though as she backed off after not too long and then stuck very close to mom.  She’s a funny little girl – though she remained undecided about me, it didn’t stop her from giving me a couple play bows followed by mad dashes.

Baldy will have his own post soon!

Anita - what an adorable little fluffy!

Chris - That last one of her peaking around the bedpost is adorable!
