Just another sneak peek — I’ve been super busy but hopefully will be able to get back to regular full posting soon. In the meantime…. Brooks.
I think I should be commended for not sneaking him in my bag and taking him home. It wasn’t easy.
Whenever I go to an adoption event or run by one of the boarding facilities to take photos of the adoptable Paws in the City dogs, well, I have to admit, there’s almost always one that jumps out as an instant favorite. There’s no obvious rhyme or reason behind the one that tugs at my heart a little more strongly — sometimes it’s the one that won’t stop giving me kisses; sometimes it’s a sweet little shy baby; sometimes it’s one that looks a certain way — but one almost inevitably does.
The last time I went by Urban Paws, they had a handful of Paws dogs (and the puppies — I promise I’m going to do a big post on them soon!). That time, “my” dog was Sailor. The sweet boy was turned over to a city shelter when his owners could no longer care for him. Paws in the City managed to rescue him just in time as space was running out at the shelter. He’s young – still less than a year – but he’s already (mostly) outgrown the puppy silliness, which isn’t to say he isn’t super friendly and a little goofy and that he doesn’t have energy to spare, he just seems a little mature for his age. All the other dogs seemed to think he was super cool.
So I heart Sailor and hope he gets a really really good home soon.
I confess that my favorites are sometimes the hams that seem to just just love the camera, and Sailor certainly fit that category. I probably shouldn’t admit this, but the shot below reminds me of an America’s Next Top Model photoshoot — Sailor’s totally found his light, he’s smiling with his eyes, and all eyes are drawn to him regardless of what’s going on around him.
he is STUNNING!! And totally amazing for the camera! You did a great job capturing this handsome guy!
Sailor really is gorgeous! It would be great if you had a “share” button- I’ll like to post this to Twitter…
Wow hope he finds a home he’s stunning, but then you are a brilliant photographer!
UGH! love Love LOVE the last one on the left! Reminds me of a GQ ad! LOL Too cute!
I admit it, I’m a sucker for a bulldog. Something about them makes me squeal and giggle a little whenever I see one – I suppose it’s the snorfling and snoofling they’re constantly doing. So I was definitely excited to shoot Lulu.
I also figured it’d be a fairly easy shoot. I mean, it’s a bulldog. Yes, she’s young, but I figured that meant she’d run around for about 5-10 minutes before she’d wear herself out and plop down to recover. Well, I’m convinced Lulu is a lab trapped in a bulldog body. The little girl didn’t stop. She loved the squeaky cuz and got super excited for me to throw it for her (those little legs of hers move fast!). Her game is not the traditional fetch, but rather to run and find the cuz, sniff on it a little bit, and then run back, leaving the cuz ball where it landed. (So, maybe not a lab after all…). We played for a couple hours and she never stopped, not even for a minute. A busy little snorfler, that one.
After a couple hours with the cuz ball, I dug into my bag of tricks and treats and pulled out a green hol-ee roller. Lulu’s mom commented that she’d seen one and thought of getting one for Lulu, but wasn’t sure she’d love it since it didn’t squeak. Ummm….. she didn’t mind the missing squeak.
I waaaaannnntttt one!
Loves these, especially the flying bulldog image!
LOVE these action shots!! Would you be willing to share any settings? Really beautiful work!
We’re the two best friends anybody could have….
My little monkeys are weird. They’ll happily be lazing in the backyard – one on the elevated bed, the other sprawled out on the porch – but all that changes when I step outside. Belle jumps up, dances around for just a second, looks at me to make sure I’m watching, and then play attacks Bear. And the show begins. I’m not sure why my presence prompts a full episode of wrestlemania, but it does.
They play rough – Belle growls and barks and talks. Both show their teeth as they lunge at each other’s throats. It scared me at first – were they still playing or had it turned into a real fight? Well, it’s never turned into a fight. After a short cycle of ferociousness, they pause. Belle swings a paw up on Bear’s back, her signal that it’s time to him to do a little grooming on her. Bear happily complies. Once Belle decides she’s back to looking fab, she usually ducks her head to try to grab one of Bear’s front legs. And the games resume!
We actually have a similar game at night in front of the TV. Bear lies all curled up, super sweet, next to me, when Belle realizes there hasn’t been a spotlight on her highness for entirely too long, a crisis that must be remedied immediately. She marches up, and slowly walks back and forth, tail swishing (usually across my and Bear’s faces). If that doesn’t work to sufficiently get Bear’s attention, she barks. Then she resumes the swishing — bark, swish, bark, swish — until finally Bear hops up to groom her. And then, once she decides he’s done, she wanders back to her chair or off to another room for another nap.
I never said they were right in the head.
Deb that picture is so great! Makes me wish Phaneuf had playmate. If only I had a bigger car…or a bigger house…more money… *sigh* 🙂
Lauren - Debbie! What an incredible shot…it’s great to see a sneak peek and we are so eager to view the rest! It was great watching you and Brooks together and seeing your talent–thanks again and looking forward to the gallery!!
