After that long “winter” (even a born and bred Texan like me can’t really call that a winter!), spring is here! And with spring comes loads of dog-related and dog-friendly events. Here are just a few…

This Sunday, thank Dog. will be at Easter in the Park (probably my favorite annual event). If you’re coming, stop by the booth and say “hi.”

And check out the DFW Rescue Me booth to see a few of the available pups, like Cupcake here (for those that follow thank Dog on Facebook like you should!, the pug named Cupcake was quickly adopted; this is obviously a different Cupcake, perhaps even sweeter!)

Or, if that’s not your thing, the Deep Ellum Art Festival Pet Parade is also on Sunday. I can’t be there since I can’t be in two places at once, but it’s a fun event.

Also this month is the SPCA Strut Your Mutt, as well as the inaugural Kibble and Cocktails benefitting DFW Rescue Me. One of those raffle items just might be a thank Dog session.

And, the Dallas Pet Expo is a few months away (June 23). They’ll be all kinds of pet-related stuff going on, plus it’s indoors (Tower Building in Fair Park) but still open to dogs.

I’m going to have a booth at the Easter in the Park (at Lee Park in Turtle Creek). It’s such a fun event — one of my favorites of the year. Weather permitting (please!!), the Dallas Symphony will play, and the dogs will be out in full force and in some amazing costumes. Fingers crossed the storms are gone and stay away! If you get a chance, stop by the booth and say “hi!”

deep ellum arts festival

The Deep Ellum Arts Festival was held this past weekend, and Sunday included a pet parade and booths for rescue organizations. I arrived at the end of the parade, but was able to see the various award categories (best costume, best trick, etc.). There were some big personalities on display — a 17 year old, one-earred (literally), mohawked schnauzer, a prancing rottweiler (I didn’t get any photos of him, unfortunately), a little pink fluffy twirling dog, and many others.

It’s a fun event in an eclectic, artsy part of town. A bunch of great vendors and musicians– and the pups are out in full force!

valentine’s day contest

Love comes in many different forms… including the love we have for our pets, and the love they return many times over. So to celebrate the special love we have with our furry family members, thank Dog. photography is holding a special Valentine’s Day contest!

The Details:

* To enter: email me your four-legged love story — why your pet(s) make you laugh, what makes them special, what they’ve taught you, etc. Send emails to debbie [at] thankdogphotography.com. Stories can be funny or touching, silly or heart-warming – just whatever best describes your relationship with your pet! Feel free to share your story in the comments section as well!

* Please include a photo of your pet(s).

* The winner must sign a release allowing me to use the images from our session as I see fit, including on the blog and website.

* Entries will be accepted until midnight on February 13th, 2011 CST.

The Prize:

* Pet photography session (1-2 pets) at the location of your choice

* Credit of $100 toward the purchase of any prints or products

* Three low-resolution, watermarked digital files, perfect for facebook

The winner will be announced on February 14, 2011. Be sure to share this with all the pet-loving folks you know so they can enter too!

The Fine Print: Session is non-transferrable and may not be redeemed for cash. Past/current clients of thank Dog. photography do not qualify for this giveaway. Limit two pets. thank Dog. photography is super excited to be at Texas Pet Expo this coming weekend! Tons of fabulous vendors and exhibitors, rescue organizations, plus… a water-skiing squirrel! Acro-cats performing tricks and stunts! Agility dogs! A happy dragon! Bird performances! Seriously, how can you miss all that? Check out the website for more details.

The Expo is both Saturday (9 to 6) and Sunday (10 to 5) at the Plano Centre. Tickets are $25 for a family pass (family of 4), $10 for adults, $5 for senior citizens, college students and kids (except kids under 5 – they get in free).
